The Nets approached us to turn a former raw storage room adjacent to the iconic practice court into a room where they could host their families and children during games. Previously, the family room was far from the players’ locker room and practice area, which made it difficult for the players and families to navigate in private around the building. In the new design, we intentionally left the space partially raw so that one still felt “behind the scenes,” but then details were added to dress up the room for comfort and function. The pantry area was designed with the Barclay’s Arena food & beverage team to accommodate the extensive feast they serve during games. Eighty-Five linear feet of counter-top was required for the spread. Most of the furniture was custom built specifically for the space to allow for both socializing and dining.
